Why Tech 4 Seniors?
The Problems
Technology is constantly changing and becoming something that cannot be ignored. Whether attempting to communicate with the IRS, your doctor, or even trying to keep track of family on Facebook. Whether folks need to understand the finer points of video chatting or learning to turn it on. We aim to help Seniors of all levels of experience to improve their access to technology!
How Does It Work?
1.) Personal Device
Over the second half of 2026, we will begin offering a series of free classes for Seniors. The various types are below, and Seniors will need to bring their own device.
A.) Smart Phone -
These classes will teach Seniors the ins & outs of their smart phones. Different sessions will be offered for Android and iPhone to make sure that everyone can get the information they need.
B.) Laptop/Computer
These classes will teach Seniors how to operate a Windows operating system. Each session will have a different topic, to ensure that adequate time can be given; for instance, computer basics, understanding security and avoiding scams, social media usage, and more.
These programs will be hosted at our office:
22188 Main St. Reeds Spring, MO
2.) Grant Device
While many Seniors have taken the plunge to purchase technology, with many finding it collecting dust. For many more Seniors, the cost of technology is a severe barrier for entry to the digital world. We are currently seeking funding for this program.
Under this program, 4 Ozark Seniors will purchase Chromebook laptops, along with 3 year warranties, for computer training for Seniors. Those who sign up will go through a once-weekly, 8 week course, covering the entirety of using a computer. Including time for tutoring and practical trainings. Upon completion of the program, each Senior will be able to keep their Chromebook. This gives them both the knowledge, and the tools, to fully join the digital world.
If you would like to donate to support these, and other programs, you can donate right from our hompage!
